Embodied with its unique history, culture and architecture, Dubrovnik has been called the "Adriatic pearl" for centuries.

The city is rich with museums, collections and historical monuments defying to the teeth of time and always succeeds to charm its visitors. Filled with old stone houses, every one of them with its own original story, it will amaze You once and for all. History of Dubrovnik starts in the seventh century with little town Epidaurum, today known as Cavtat.
After collapse of West Roman empire, running away from Avars and Slavs, people of Epidaurum founded colony Called Laus-Lave-Ragusa.

Thirteen century saw the rise of the Dubrovnik Republic, independent and strong through history until 1808, when it was finally defeated by Napoleon.
Extending its territory to Lastovo, Peljesac and Konavle, with very strong navy, diplomatic skills and market and trade background, it became of the European centers of science and arts. 15th and 16th century were the golden age of the Republic, when pragmatic politics and good relationships with Spain, Turkey and Vatican kept Dubrovnik Republic free from wars.

Catastrophic earthquake of 1667 marked the beginning of its gradual fall. It managed to renew economy and navy, but in 1808 was occupied by France, after which it became a part of Croatia. It was a pretty much destroyed in Serbs-Montenegrin aggression in 19991-1992. After the war Dubrovnik is renovating again and experiencing its total blossom.
